Nose:

Delightfully peaty and smoke to begin. The smoke is gentle and soft with a sweet, floral edge – imagine dying bonfire embers, smouldering dried heather, damp moss and wet hay. 

Taste:

The smoke wisps around everything in the mouth and binds the whisky together sublimely. Sweet heather honey, fairground toffee apple and milk chocolate are also to the fore. Underneath are further notes of cocoa powder, dried red apple and an increasingly robust maltiness. That maltiness in combination with the gentle smoke drags out the length of finish and gives a bittersweet edge.

Finish:

Long and a little ashy. The whisky has plenty of grip and the smoke lingers for an age. The maltiness also dominates, especially once the sweeter elements fade.
